Quality vs. Quantity, a two-fer

From the submission thread:
What things have people shared on the boards that have made you wonder whether they keep anything private at all? No mentions of Incubus, please, we already know.

Why haven't the other bad writing whores been slammed like Scylla? You know the people I mean, those who write long drawn out prose usually their family. You can see they are just trying to impress up with their master writing skills. >hurl<

Lots of people used to post little stories like Scylla but they've all moved on. Some of Scylla's early stuff was very good IMO but lately they've all fallen flat.

The worst is when he tries to make some sort of subtle point or whatever that most of us are too stupid to "get." Then he refuses to clarify himself and gets all petulent at "considers quitting the boards." Yawn.

I second Rue DeDay. For the longest time I had never seen his name since he never ventures out of MPBSIMS. Then I saw that the only thing he does on the boards is post stupid "creative, witty" stories about his personal life. Who actually reads that crap?

Polycarp is the biggest hot-air balloon on the boards with his absurdly verbose liberal Christian glurge. His beliefs are totally inconsistent and I've really come to see that the only thing he cares about is appearing as pro-gay and anti-fundie as possible.

Wang-Ka definitely writes fiction and has admitted it. He reposts the shit too when he can shoe horn it in. He's posted that lame Jehovahs Witness story several times. Each time people "LOL" and don't have the brains to realize that it's fake.

I had really only skimmed a couple of Scylla's threads to see what the big deal and concluded that the big deal is that the SDMB contains a lot of easy-to-please people.

It's nothing against anyone who tries. You know what they say: you have to grab them in the first few sentences. So if they don't grab me, I think that's fair enough, that's why they are writing on the board and not for a paying audience. It's always a bit embarassing when the applique sweater brigade comes out to fawn over the OP but oh well.

Heh, funny that someone mentioned that about mhendo. The first time I got a personal email from someone on the board was when I posted about a bad case of jock itch I had and mhendo emailed me to mention he had a similar problem. It was kinda strange.
