and are actually whacko wrong (infacide has many non-human examples, many wouldn't think a fetus as "progeny", what is the mental "norm" for all species?)I mostly stop actively agreeing with them, even when they get a point right somehow.

It's a collection of quotes, some I agree with, some I don't. But none of the quotes warrants a pit thread, and certainly none of the quotes substantiates the racism Even Sven alludes to.

The original thread is interesting (in Great Debates) because that poor bastard Aeschines doesn't seem to have a single person who agrees with his premises or arguments. They're arguing different parts of it with him; he's busier than a cat licking two skillets trying to defend his points

Oh no no no. Don't you see, mice and rats are "mentally sick species". That's why they are so rare and have such a short lifespan, evolutionarily speaking of course. ;)

But yeah, the pitting wasn't that great. I'm not a fan of the shotgun approach, "Hey look- he's crazy about everything!". Best to focus on 1 or 2 loony bits, doesn't split up your audience so much.
